  1. Mikel made his Super Eagles debut against Libya in August 2005, aged 18 years and 4 months old.
  2. He arrived Chelsea in 2006 as an attacking midfielder but was soon converted by Jose Mourinho due to his wide range of passing, height and physicality.
  3. The Jos-born midfielder got sent-off on his first Premier League start against Reading on October 14th 2006 at the Madejski Stadium.
  4. Obi Mikel scored his first Super Eagles goal against Zimbabwe at the 2006 AFCON in Egypt, moments after coming on as a substitute in the group game.
  5. After several years and international caps, he netted his 4th senior international goal on his 50th appearance for Nigeria in a FIFA Confederations cup against Uruguay in 2013.
  6. On his first outing as Chelsea’s captain against Derby County in an FA Cup tie in January 2014, he scored a goal.
  7. He has netted 1 goal in 247 Premier League games.
